Sponsored by Norman Global Logistics, Andrew Brown has completed his solo crossing of the Atlantic, in a world record time of 40 days, 9 hours and 41 minutes. Remarkably he was just 26 minutes behind the winning boat manned by two rowers after having travelled around 2,600 miles from the Canary Islands to Barbados. It’s the closest finish on record for the annual rowing race ‘The Atlantic Challenge’ the toughest in the world.

Seventeen boats started the challenge in early December, and eight have had to withdraw due to technical problems, or in one case being dumped by a huge wave leaving the rowers having to be rescued from their life raft on New Years Eve.

Apart from setting a personal challenge to beat the ocean, Andrew was raising money for two children’s charities and had set himself a target of £88,000.  If you would like to donate visit:
