On the 1st March 2005 new measures were introduced by the European Community and its member states for wood packaging used for the import of all products from all Countries, (excl. Switzerland). The provisions of the Plant Health Directive 200/89/EC on wood packaging material were aligned with provisions of the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM15) on Guidelines for regulating wood packaging material in international trade. Full information regarding these new measures are available from the Forestry Commission. Click here to follow the link to their website which includes the markings to be found on wood packing that comply with these regulations. Failure to comply could result in the consignment being refused entry into the EU and return of the goods to origin.
